Award-winning filmmaker Michale Boganim explores the complex identity of Mizrahi Jews through her work in Lod and Tel Aviv–Beirut. She examines how efforts to promote a Western identity often marginalized the Middle Eastern heritage shared by much of Israel’s population. Highlighting the revival of Mizrahi culture through initiatives such as the Ashdod Andalusian Orchestra, Boganim reflects on how embracing shared cultural roots can foster dialogue and coexistence.
